About BamBeds

BamBeds builds removable, vehicle-specific sleeping platforms for trucks and SUVs. Each platform sits on your vehicle’s existing bed or cargo geometry, gives you a flat place to sleep, leaves storage underneath, and comes out when you need the bed empty.

We CNC-cut platforms in California and ship with a typical lead time of 3–5 business days. Matching Sliding Drawers, mattresses, and leveling platforms are available for many kits.

Why BamBeds exists

I started BamBeds because I needed a platform that got out of the way. Drawer-only systems are great for full-time travelers and tradespeople, but they kept me from using my truck like a truck — hauling junk, dirt, furniture, and house-project runs.

At the time I was weekend camping: 2–3 day Friday-Sunday trips from San Diego up Highway 395 into the Eastern Sierra, or south for Baja surf trips with my wife. I bought two ¾″ 4×8 sheets, cut three Tacoma panels with a jigsaw to sit on the factory ledge, and lived with that basic practical setup for about five years in my 2009 Tacoma Long Bed. It was ugly. It also worked. Stack the panels forward for big cargo, or pull them entirely for a dump run or move.

After enough of those trips — and enough friends asking how to build the same thing — I turned that minimalist long-bed Tacoma design into a product for people who want the same idea without spending a weekend and wasting a bunch of wood.

What we make

  • Sleeping platforms fitted to specific vehicles and generations (Tacoma, 4Runner, Tundra, F-150, Ram, Rivian, and more)
  • Sliding Drawers that match the platform where we offer them, so under-deck storage stays organized without locking the bed into a permanent drawer system
  • Mattresses and leveling platforms sized to the kits that need them.

Platforms install and remove without tools on the designs that use factory ledges or published cargo geometry. Always match year, make, model, and bed length — a platform for one generation will not fit another.

Materials

We cut from premium ~18 mm panel stock:

  • Baltic Birch — the standard platform material, bare wood
  • Bamboo — the eco friendly / premium aesthetic option (beeswax finish on Bamboo material options)
  • Hex (non-slip) — birch core with a hexagonal face; the better pick when you want more traction and less warp risk in open-bed or wet use

Strength and warranty

Evenly distributed load ratings: 1,000 lbs on Tacoma, 1,500 lbs on Ram, Tundra, Rivian, and F-150-class platforms.

BamBeds carry a Strength Guarantee and a Limited Lifetime Warranty for the original purchaser, for the life of the original vehicle the kit was designed for. Coverage is for defects and normal use — not misuse, neglect, improper install, or finish wear. See the Warranty page for full terms.

Custom work

If we do not list your vehicle, email support@bambeds.com with year, make, model, and bed length. BamBeds-designed one-off work starts at $5,000 and is quoted before production (a 3D scan in San Luis Obispo is usually required). If you already have cut files, our Custom Design program can CNC your panels from the same materials we use on catalog kits (from $500 + cut charges).
